Dissertation - Droit International - 10 pages - Format Microsoft Word
In the UK, the action for defamation protects an individual’s reputation. "Defamation is the publication of a statement which reflects on a person’s reputation and tends to lower him in the estimation of right-thinking members of society generally or tends to make them shun or avoid him." Reputation was protected for many centuries thought the common law, which made a distinction between two types of defamation: libel and slander. In the recent history, the tort of defamation had been organized with the Defamation Act 1954, now replaced by the Defamation Act 1996 (DA96). We will discuss here about defamation with an article entitled “beautiful Preston” published in the The Lancashire Evening Post.
