Schools in England and in the Unites States

In England, Primary school starts at the age of six. It is composed of five forms: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th form. Then, there is Secondary school, made of seven forms: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and finally the Upper-Sixth, which corresponds to our French Terminale. In the United States, pupils start with Elementary School: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Then they go to Middle School for three years when they are eleven years old: 6th, 7thand 8th grades. Finally they enter High School: 9th grade or Freshmen, 10th grade or Sophomores, 11th grade or Juniors and 12th grade or Seniors. First, we will see the English and American educational systems. Then, we will study American and British schools’ traditions.
