The rise of fascim in the interwar years

Fascism is definitely one of the greatest blights which affected the human condition in the XXth Century. Mainly characterised by a totalitarian system of government and extreme nationalism, this ideology arose and developed in the interwar years in Europe. In Italy and Germany, it was made concrete with the coming to power of respectively Benito Mussolini, the Duce, and Adolf Hitler, the Führer. Some historians claim that the rise of fascism in both countries was due to economic crises. This tends to be true, however one cannot deny the responsibility of three other decisive factors : the moral consequences of World War I, the political instability of the time-period and the lack of effective opposition.
