First of all, to identify the critical factors in Sony’s development, we have to study Sony’s environment at its beginning : we will therefore conduct a brief PESTEL analysis.
Politically, Japan lost the second world war and is then a completely damaged country. Economically, it faced a dislocated economy with a very weak currency (Japanese Yen). Socio-culturally, Japan is an isolated and closed country (not ethnically heterogeneous, little contact with foreigners, difficult language...).
