A sustainable foreign policy for Great Britain by Neville Chamberlain
Commentaire de document - Histoire - 6 pages - Format Microsoft Word
After reading the three texts that follow, all written in early 1938 by Neville Chamberlain, you will try, after introducing them, to define and comment on the criteria which Chamberlain was then going by to decide on a sustainable foreign policy for Great Britain.
The 1930’s were marked by a series of events which would considerably influence the British Foreign policy. Indeed, the importance to find an agreement about disarmament at Geneva in 1932, and the departure of Germany and Italy from the League of Nation in 1936, led to a great deal of anxiety among the Conservative Party, which was headed then by Neville Chamberlain. He decided to carry on a policy of appeasement of which the criteria are expounded in these three texts, which were written in early 1938.
