The foreign policy of the Venezuela of Hugo Chavez

“Hasta la revolucion, siempre”: this famous quotation of Che Guevara takes today a new expression through the actual Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez. Indeed, he attempts to establish the Bolivar’s revolution, changing radically the foreign politic of Venezuela.

I chose to study this particular case and at the same time actual: the attitude of Venezuela towards the other countries of the world, because I think that the foreign politic of Venezuela arouses today the interest of people and particularly of politicians and theorists. Indeed, I think that, with India and Asia, Latin America is more and more influent and particularly Brazil and Venezuela. Thanks to its resources and its ideology as regards foreign policy, I think that Venezuela could be, in the near future, a strategic actor in the international scene. Actually, Venezuela could be able to use a sort of blackmail with the dominant countries of the West, among others with the question of oil. That’s why I chose to study the case of the foreign policy of Venezuela because it is a country that no one will be able to ignore in the international system.
