Exposé - Anglais - 3 pages - Format Microsoft Word
Certain passages of the history mark the spirits of the more learned. The Victorian Era is one of its passages most characteristic of the English history. The arrival on the throne of the new sovereign, here the Queen, will completely change the face of this country.
The term « Victorian » indicates all that belongs to the reign of Victoria or what is typical of this period. It appeared for the first time in English language about the middle of the XIXth century. The adjective is initially laudatory. It applies to the great size, the prosperity and the success of triumphing England. It took a more critical form recently: it evokes the prudery, the conformism of the century.
